About Andrew Allegretti, MD, MSC

Andrew Allegretti, MD MSc is Director of Critical Care Nephrology in the Division of Nephrology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He received his undergraduate and medical degrees from Brown University and has a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health. He completed residency training in Internal Medicine at MGH, followed by subspecialty training in Nephrology in the Brigham and Women's Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital joint fellowship. He takes care of all patients with acute and chronic kidney disease. He has a clinical focus on kidney care in patients with liver disease.

Research

Dr. Allegretti is a Principal Investigator in the MGH Kidney Research Center and the Chair/Founder of the HRS-HARMONY research collaborative. His research interest is in translating new therapies for hepatorenal syndrome and in finding new diagnostics for kidney injury. He has expertise in multicenter clinical trials, biomarker translation, and continuous renal replacement therapy.
